Bioplant R&D disposes of a broad expertise in the area of genetic and phytosanitary crop plant improvement through cooperation with important Universities and Research centers. Our main partners currently are:

The Plant Biotechnology Unit at the IAM is working on biodiversity conservation and molecular characterization by maintaining the genetic resources of economic/useful plants and at the same time improving their phytosanitary state. Particularly temperate fruit species are conserved in vitro. Newly developed methods to determine the allergen content of fruits open new breeding goals towards healthier food. In order to improve their phytosanitary state new breeding tools are being developed allowing the direct integration of desired traits, especially resistance to pathogens, into woody crop species. This is confirmed by several methods of reverse and forward genetics. The application of plant functional genomics leads to a better understanding of essential pathways and the creation of improved crop plants in shorter time spans.

INiTS has been providing advice and support for entrepreneurs with innovative ideas since 2002. Services are aimed at graduates, employees and students at universities and „Fachhochschulen“ in Vienna who want to put their business ideas into practice by starting up a company.
INiTS was founded as part of the AplusB programme Business) and as the AplusB centre for the Vienna region. AplusB is a programme of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology, run by the Austrian Research Support Company (FFG) which provides its services in a very initial phase of the start-up process.

Three members, holders of traditional companies, large, real-sector institutions: Salvi Nurseries, Nurseries Nurseries Mazzoni and Tagliani. Synergy, share expertise and significant investments in research to offer the new consciousness of the art products and markets more responsive to needs. Strawberries, apples, pears and peaches are the products with which the Varietal Innovation Centre has achieved excellent results and that has pushed promotion activities nationally and internationally.
The CIV, with great foresight, has been engaged for years to breed varieties that can provide high quality products with low energy consumption and low environmental impact. For it is ready to respond immediately to the needs of increasingly eco-conscious consumers.

The company was founded in 1994 in Baselga di Pinè, in the mountains of Trentino, producing plants of raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, red and black currant, gooseberry and strawberry. Almost 80% of the production is represented by the raspberry.
The objective of Berry Plant is to satisfy requests from nurseries, growers and small fruit producers, searching healthy plants, delivered on time, for the specific environments with professionality.
Since 2006 it has a new headquarters with a heated greenhouse of 6.000 m2 and 3.000 m2 of settling tunnel outside. In 2011 Berryplant became a Company (S.A.S. Società agricola) and even the two sons of the owner are since then working in the company. To date there are 16 workers that increase till the number of 30 during the transplant period.
Another 20.000 m2 of nursery are seated in Verona, where the climate is milder. This allows to maintain the mother plants and to cultivate in screen greenhouses the material for the propagation.

BIOREBA AG was the first company worldwide to produce and commercialize ELISA reagents for plant virus diagnostics in 1980. It is an independent company that was started in close collaboration with Agroscope Changins-Wädenswil, Research Station ACW Nyon, Switzerland. Since then, BIOREBA has established cooperation with numerous other research institutes and universities in many countries. Since its foundation more than three decades ago, the company has steadily grown and built a reputation for high quality diagnostics. Today, the research community and diagnostic laboratories around the world rely on our products for testing potatoes, grapevines, fruit trees, small fruits, vegetables, ornamentals and field crops.

OGM was founded in 1996 as a fusion of 4 smaller cooperatives. The cooperative belongs to about 4000 members selling their fruit production through OGM. The unusual feature of the OGM compared to other cooperatives in Germany is that more than 40% of the turnover is generated by the focus of berries, 24-30% of sales by stone fruits and 20-24% pome fruits.
The OGM Advisory Group attends issues of the fruit producers in all fruit orchards about cultivation of varieties, cultural techniques, plant health and other aspects. Also, own trials for cultivar testing, rural engineering and plant protection are performed for the principal crops on farms in the region. Raspberry plays a special role and raspberry tests carried out since 2002 include variety testing, cane management, plant health and other aspects; since 2006 also trials in protected cultivation under film tunnels were conducted.
